چکیده
Piezoelectric materials are widely being used as sensors and energy harvesters. Given the importance of integrating systems with sensors, developing flexible piezoelectric materials with high functionality is necessary. Recently, a flexible micro-porous polyurethane PZT material has been introduced and demonstrated high sensitivity upon touch. This work investigates the functionality of flexible micro-porous polyurethane PZT material as a novel potential candidate for soft robotics and related applications as it is not evaluated in 31 mode. The dynamic response of this sensor is analyzed and compared with the performance of common piezoelectric materials. To perform this analysis, we employ experimentally measured parameters of the micro-porous polyurethane PZT material in a formulation developed for a sensor with a circular geometry. This study shows an amazing performance for the micro-porous PU-PZT in 33 mode and an acceptable output for the bending mode as a plate. This high sensitivity and flexibility combination makes this material a promising candidate for applications, including smart skins and gloves where there is a pressing need for efficient, flexible sensors.
