Inaccessible rolling bearing diagnosis, using Morlet wavelet and Kurtogram for frequency band selection: Industrial Case-studies

چکیده
The main goal of this research is to detect the defect signatures of a faulty rolling element bearing (REB) from the vibration signals recorded from a healthy REB located on the same shaft. It can be used for diagnostics of the inaccessible REB of the rotating machines. To achieve this goal, the fast kurtogram tool, as well as a recently proposed algorithm in the literature based on continuous wavelet transform (CWT), are employed for filtering the signal and applying the envelope analysis. The methods are applied to three actual industrial cases. The industrial cases include the vibration data of three different electro-motors recorded from the faulty REB and the healthy REB. The results show that both algorithms could successfully reveal the weak signatures of the faulty REBs in the recorded signals from the healthy REBs. Therefore, these methods can be used for diagnostics of the inaccessible REBs in actual cases.
